Geography (Curriculum)

At Walkergate Community School, geography is a fundamental part of our curriculum. We aim for our pupils to become curious and fascinated about the diverse places, people, natural and human environments of the world in which they live. We strive to develop respectful citizens who understand their role in looking after our planet.

Through the National Curriculum for Geography, Walkergate Community School ensures all pupils:

  • Study a wide range of carefully sequenced units through an enquiry-based approach which enables them to think critically, analyse data and come to their own conclusions.
  • Explore geographical concepts including place, space, earth systems, environment, scale and interconnection to make connections in all phases of their learning.
  • Take part in relevant fieldwork to develop their skills as geographers and practically apply their learning.

We are committed to raising aspirations and make links to further study and career options throughout all our units.
