Walkergate Community School recognised by the Department for Education
Walkergate Community School has received a letter of recognition from the Department for Education following its outcomes at the end of the 2024 to 2025 academic year. The letter commends the school’s work with disadvantaged pupils and the strength of its overall performance.
The Secretary of State highlighted that Walkergate’s results place the school among the highest-performing schools nationally. This reflects sustained improvement and a clear focus on doing the right thing for pupils who need it most.
The recognition speaks directly to the work taking place in classrooms every day. Pupils have risen to high expectations, supported by staff who show commitment, care, and belief in what children can achieve.
The letter also encourages Walkergate to play a wider role across the system. It recognises the value of sharing practice, working with other schools and trusts, and contributing to regional networks to support improvement for more pupils.
As a Trust, we are proud of Walkergate Community School and its whole school community. This acknowledgement recognises the impact of the school’s work and the positive difference it makes for children and families.
This achievement deserves celebration and provides a strong platform for the next stage of the school’s journey.
